Britney is a local girl that loves her God and her country! She was born and raised right here in the Central Illinois area. She loves spending time with her husband, four kiddos, three dogs and of course her son’s two lizards. Her and her awesome family enjoy traveling to Tennessee, four wheeling, weight lifting, and kids club wrestling!

I got into learning about functional medicine when I was pregnant with our fourth child. My brother Brandon passed away from Lymphoma at the age of 26 one month before I delivered. My mother also had breast cancer at the age of 36 and is doing phenomenal now. I thought to myself we have four kids; I need to learn ways to promote wellness for ourselves and our kids to create a full healthy life for us all. I love that functional medicine is preventative medicine; meaning it helps us develop healthy lifestyles and habits so we are less prone to develop illness and chronic disease.

Marissa Edelman, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Marissa has been a nurse for over 10 years. She originally worked in the Emergency Department for 7 years which led to her deeper passion for functional medicine and finding the root cause for patients’ conditions. She went on to further her degree and earned her masters as a family nurse practitioner from OSF College of Nursing in 2020. Her previous FNP background had been in Urgent Care.

As mentioned, Marissa’s passion is to help patients get to the root cause of their illness and optimize health for the body, mind, and soul. Through this approach, Marissa believes we can utilize our body and mind God gave us to the best of our ability. She values a patient centered practice with a focus on food as medicine and all other supplements and medications as adjunct therapy.

Marissa enjoys running, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her husband, two daughters and friends in her spare time.

She looks forward to serving each individual patient at Stronger Every Day!
